Abstract

A field experiment was conducted in Alfisols during 2003-04, 2004-05 and 2005-06 to find out the suitable irrigation scheduling and weed management practices for rabi pigeonpea. Significantly higher plant height, pods/plant, seed yield, net returns, lower weed dry matter and weed density were recorded with 0.9 IW/CPE among irrigation schedules. Intercultivation at 25 and 50 DAS recorded significantly higher plant height, branches/plant, pods/plant, yield, WUE, net returns, lower weed dry matter and weed density among weed management practices. The performance of imazethapyr was superior to pendimethalin and fenoxaprop-p-ethyl. Total 300 mm of water applied in five irrigations (0.9 IW/CPE) recorded lower WUE but higher yield compared to 60 mm of water in one irrigation (0.3 IW/CPE)
