Abstract

A study was undertaken during 1993-94 and 1994-95 at CSA University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur to find out the effect of row proportions and genotype in rajmash + mustard intercropping system in replacement scries. The results showed that intercropping produced significantly higher rajmash equivalent yield (FEY) and earned more gross income and net profit than sole rajmash in all cases. Among intercropping, 8:1 row ratio of rajnush + mustard produced 31.3 and 34.2 g/ha REY with maximum net profit of Rs. 28,364 and 34,934/ha and net return of Rs. 1.74 and 2.14 per rupee investment during 1993- 94 and 1994-95, respectively. Among rajmash varieties, PDR 14 produced significantly maximum FEY of 31.4 and 35.4 q/ha with highest net profit of Rs. 30,073 and 35,368/ha and, net return of Rs. 1.84 and 2.17 per rupee investment during 1993- 94 and 1994-95, respectively. Thus, intercropping of rajmash ev. PDR 14 with mustard in 8:1 row proportion in replacement series proved most productive and remunerative.
