Abstract

Intercropping of different crops with chickpea seems to have brought about considerable impact on egg laying, larval population, larval parasitization and pod damage. Results have shown that the chickpea +marigold and chickpea + garlic were best combinations to reduce the egg laying of Helicoverpa armigera on chickpea. Chickpea sown with marigold, garlic, fennel and mustard have low larval population on chickpea. Chickpea + lentil combination have higher incidence of larvae than chickpea sole crop. Coriander and fennel resulted highest parasitiazation of larvae by Compoletis chloridae. Minimum pod and maximum yield was recorded when chickpea was intercropped with coriander followed by fennel.
