Four newly developed Cytoplasmic Genic Male Sterile (CMS) lines viz., GT 100A, GT 288A, GT 289A and GT 290A were crossed with four identified restorers viz., GTR 1, GTR 5, GTR 6 and GTR 10 in line x tester manner. The gca/sca variance ratio indicated predominance of non-additive components for all the characters except plant height and pod length. The CMS line GT 288A was found good general combiner for seed yield, pods/plant, plant height, seeds/pod, pod length and 100-seed weight and GT 289A, GT 290A and GTR 6 were for earliness. Crosses involving low x low gea possessing parents vi, GT 288A x GTR 10 and GT 288A x GTR 5 exhibited high sca effect and high per se performance for seed yield. On the basis of heterosis over standard check, these two hybrids outyielded AKPH 4101 to the extent of 26.1% and 19.9%. The results revealed the possibility of commercial exploitation of heterosis using CMS system in pigeonpea
