Abstract

Forty-five genotypes were evaluated to assess various genetic parameters of physiological traits and seed yield in lentil. Variability and heritability estimates were high for all physiological traits at all growth stages. Genetic advance was highest for crop growth rate (CGR) at 90 DAS-maturity and lowest for relative growth rate (RGR) at 45-90 DAS. Leaf area (LA), leaf area index (LAI), net assimilation rate (NAR) and CGR at all growth stages, RGR at 90 DAS-maturity and chlorophyll content at 45 and 90 DAS had positive and highly significant correlation with seed yield. Leaf area had maximum positive direct effect on seed yield at all growth stages. Other traits with positive direct effect on seed yield at all the stages were root-shoot ratio and CGR while LAI and RGR had negative direct effect.
