Abstract

Two hundred fifteen mungbean germplasm accessions were screened against powdery mildew (Erysiphe polygoni DC.) under epiphytotic conditions. Of these, only DMG 1030 did not support growth of Erysiphe polygoni and thus exhibited resistant reaction. Five other genotypes, namely DMG 1045, DMG 1130- 2, LM 164, LM 421 and CO 4 showed moderately resistant reaction to powdery mildew. DMG 1030 showed moderately resistance and DMG 1045 showed stable resistance to mungbean yellow mosaic virus when tested consistently for two kharif seasons. These germplasm lines may be utilized in breeding programme for developing high yielding varieties with multiple disease resistance against powdery mildew and mungbean yellow mosaic virus.
