Abstract

The frontline demonstrations of chickpea were conducted during the rabi season of 2016-17 to 2019-20 in 48 farmers field to determine the production potential and economic benefit under improved package and practices. The improved practices consisted of improved variety JAKI 9218, Integrated Nutrient Management (20:60:20 NPK kg/ha + Soil application of Trichoderma enriched FYM + Seed treatment with Rhizobium + PSB 5g/kg seed) at Gariyaband district of Chhattisgarh State. The improved technologies recorded mean yield of 9.62 q/ha which was 69.05 percent higher than that obtained with farmers practice of 5.68 q/ha. Improved technologies gave higher net return of 26718 Rs/ha with a benefit cost ratio of 2.85 as compared to farmers practice (Rs 14485.25 /ha, benefit cost ratio 2.48). The extension gap ranged between 3.18 to 4.25 q/ha. Data on technology index reduced from 57.2% to 49.25% exhibiting the feasibility of technology demonstration in this region.
