An experiment was conducted to study the genetic association among 144 genotypes of chickpea for 11 quantitative characters; in which seed yield per plant had highly positive significant correlations with biological yield per plant, harvest index, pods per plant and 100 seed weight. Whereas, Path analysis showed extremely direct effect of pods per plant, 100 seed weight, seeds per pod and biological yield per plant on seed yield. The high estimates of indirect effects on seed yield per plant were exerted by number of pods per plant, 100 seed weight and harvest index via biological yield per plant. Significantly inter correlation among traits are useful in breeding programme for improvement of yield and its component traits.
