Abstract

Two hundred forty genotypes of urdbean were evaluated against anthracnose (Colletotrichum truncatum) under field conditions at two locations, Dhaulakuan and Palampur in Himachal Pradesh, during kharif season of 2009 and 2010 to identify the resistant genotype (s). Among the genotypes tested forty four genotypes viz., AKU 9804, HLTU 45-1 (C87P22F445P1), HPBU 172, HPU 27, IC 11668, IC 61092, IP 01-376, IPU 99-213, IPU 99- 374, JB 233, JBT 32/82, JKU 98-3, KUG 278, KUG 283, KUG 287, KUG 288, KUG 290, KUG 305, KUG 309, KUG 313, KUG 316, KUG 317, KUG 319, KUG 323, LU 1016, LU 520, LU 914, MMT 40/1, MMT 9/1, MS/31, PLU 1025, PLU 190, PLU 197, PLU 238, PLU 363, PLU 493, PLU 552, PLU 557, SDC 3175, TU 95-1, UC/TRC 1401, UG 1018, UG 407, UKS 24/114, VB 17 were categorized as resistant (disease rating = 3 on 1-9 scale) at both the locations. Fifteen genotypes resistant at Dhaulakuan were moderately resistant at Palampur whereas, 18 genotypes resistant at Palampur exhibited moderately resistant reaction at Dhaulakuan. Thirteen genotypes were moderately resistant at both the locations. The differential behaviour of the genotypes at two locations indicated the prevalence of pathogenically variable populations of C truncatum
