Abstract

An experiment was conducted during Kharif 2009 and 2010 to find out the most appropriate planting pattern and weed management practice for obtaining higher yield in urdbean + finger millet intercropping in replacement series. Results revealed that urdbean + finger millet (1:1 or 2:1) recorded significantly lower weed dry matter and higher weed control efficiency over the sole urdbean or finger millet. However, intercropping of urdbean + finger millet (1:1) being at par with 2:1 and finger millet sole, yielded higher urdbean equivalent over sole urdbean. One hand weeding 25 DAS recorded the highest weed control efficiency and urdbean equivalent yield with higher number of ear heads /plant and fingers/ear head in finger millet over other weed management practices.
