The genetic parameters controlling the expression of seed yield and the yield components have been studied using means of six generations (P,,P,,F,,F,,B, and B,) in three inter varietal crosses of Mungbean (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek.). The scaling tests and joint scaling tests indicated presence of non-allelic interaction for all the traits in three crosses except for days to 50% flowering, in cross BPMR-145 x AKM-9910 while for number of primary branches per plant and number of clusters per plant in cross BM-2005 x NUL-605. Presence of additive, dominance and epistatic gene effects were observed in almost all the crosses, indicating importance of both additive and non-additive gene action for the expression of the characters viz, days for 50% flowering, days to maturity, plant height, no. of primary branches/plant, no. of clusters/plant, no. of pods /plant, pod length, no. of seeds/pod, 100-seed weight and grain yield/ plant. Duplicate type of epistasis was prevalent for most of characters in all the crosses. Multiple crosses, biparental mating between desirable segregants in early segregating generations (F/F,,, transgressive segregation followed by effective selection of desirable recombinants in subsequent generation would be rewarding.
